Exhibition News// Not Just Collective at Camp & Furnace

Tom George is known to many on the Liverpool scene as a musician, poet and journalist, but he has recently been making forays into the art world as a member of the Not Just Collective.

Not Just is a loose-knit group of creatives who met whilst volunteering for the Liverpool Biennial last year.

Following a debut show at Domino Gallery this January, the collective are now preparing to occupy the Camp and Furnace's Gallery space for a group show entitled 'Recurring'.

Featuring ten artists work, the show will include painting, illustration and performance exploring themes of dreaming, memory, and consciousness and will open on March 17th during Light Night.

Tom George's contribution to the show will be an installation entitled 'Room To Dream'. This piece is an expansion of Tom's Dreamcatcher project, an ever-expanding archive of video interviews with members of the public describing their most memorable dreams.

Since June last year, Tom has interviewed over fifty people and gained hours of interview footage, which has been edited into short films.

'Room to Dream' will be a specially-created bedroom within the gallery, where the Dreamcatcher films will be screened and the public will be encouraged to illustrate and write about their own dreams with crayons on the walls. Another Not Just member, Andy Johnson will be reading bedtime stories in the space throughout the opening night.

The opening night of 'Recurring' will be from 6pm-12am and will feature performances from Not Just members, including poetry from Tom George and Mandy Vaz. There will also be sets from local acoustic duo Nighthowl, among others. The show will continue from 10am- 5pm until 26th May.
