The Listen // Soundwalk Collective with Patti Smith - Correspondences Volume 1

It’s refreshing to hear the avant-garde poetic touch of truly timeless creativity and this feeling is found in abundance in the latest release from the very fruitful collaborative series between Soundwalk Collective and Patti Smith. Building on their previous three collaborative albums that focused on the exploration of poetic journeys set to experimental sound-scapes, this first release in the Correspondences series sees two original Patti Smith pieces take centre stage.

The prolific and varied work of Soundwalk Collective expands once again with the atmospheric and beat driven Passolini, and the more prosaic Medea. It’s rare to find truly experimental work imbued with such innate warmth and accessibility and that vibe continues here. Equally, the application of true poetry to music can seem forced and clinical but here it is effectively merged and provides a truly fascinating listening experience.
